I'm really surprised by the positive reviews for this book.
The story is roughly this:
- Ox writes a love letter to a Gazelle he's never met because she is pretty
- She refuses him many times
- He continues to persist writing - disregarding her clear desire for him to stop
- Somehow she falls in love with him.

I know it's meant to be funny, but the example is really poor. Don't buy this book if you think boys should value consent, or if you think girls should value more traits than beauty in themselves.

We put it in the trash - sorry it'll take up space in a landfill.

This book was really nice and I could zoom in if I wanted to see clearer or look at the Picture

This is seriously my favorite children’s book around. Clever writing, great illustrations - enjoyable for adults and kids alike!
So sweet! A story about a happy go lucky suitor who doesn't stop his pursuit despite his loves consistent criticisms and insistence that she will never return his love. I bought this for my husband of 19 years on Valentine's Day after reading it in our school library!
We enjoyed this book. We did a lot of talking the 2nd read through about what was happening and by the third my 4 year old really got it and thought it was quite funny.
The message is just SO bad. The book portrays the female gazelle as stuck up for not returning the affections of the male ox, who basically gaslights her via fan mail for the duration of the book. I'm glad I read it before giving it to my niece for xmas.

While the illustrations are lovely, I'd be mortified to give this book to anyone. I will either return it or recycle it. Please don't buy this book!
