I love reading books about how Christmas goodwill, the Christmas spirit changes people's life. In this story the Christmas Spirit is not only an allegory, but a person. She arrives in a community where some people need her help to make their life happier. I was hooked from the beginning by the interesting plot and the loveable characters. There was an unusual twist at the end that made me smile. It is a real feel-good story and I was happy to hear that there is a sequel to it.

I really enjoyed The Christmas Spirit. It was fun, fast moving, and many people were helped by Natalie. She was so sweet.
I enjoyed this story. It is definitely a feel good story that just happened to be in a Christmas setting. Some neat twists along the way.
Natalie Hope arrives in Winstanton to take over the management of a small café from its recovering owner close to Christmas, and her presence in the store has a positive effect upon the patrons of the shop.

This is an enchanting multi-character story which moves easily from one set of characters to the next, and finds them in interesting situations. The centerpiece of the story, Natalie, is wise but never schmaltzy, and sets the solemn yet joyful tone for the story, with hard-nosed Meredith being another standout character. A book that can be read at any time of the year due to its universal theme of people seeking happiness in their lives, THE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT is a great read.
Great book to get you in the Christmas spirit!
Just the read to put me in the Christmas spirit a little early. I truly love it when I read Christmas stories that lift my spirit. The characters are engaging and the setting is charming. A really great cozy read to put you into the holiday spirit.
I rather enjoyed reading The Christmas Spirit. The whole tone of the book was kept light. You got enough information and interaction of the characters to keep it interesting, but not so much that you got bogged down in the details. Hope was ever present. A book filled with warm fuzzies.
Susan Buchanan (The Dating Game, Sign of the Times) has done it again. She's crafted a heartwarming story about Natalie, who comes to a small Scottish village to run the local bakery, the Sugar and Spice, while the owner is away having surgery.

Ms Buchanan skillfully weaves in the stories of widowed Stanley, still grieving the loss of his wife, along with Meredith, a hard - and hard-driven - businesswoman, and her hapless assistant, Sophie. Then there is Jacob, who's unable to find a job until Natalie takes him on at the bakery.

This is a multi- layered, feel good book that left me smiling when I finished it. Highly recommended.
