Hello to the salesperson:Thank you for sending me this delightful book. Happy Holidays.
Hello to the Phans!
Immediately began to read it...and...it is interesting. It is fat; has 50 chapters; contains a lovely black, red, and white cover; and long descriptions like Stephanie Meyer's Twilight tales. Erik "imprints" on Christine like Jacob does with Renesmee. The story begins with little Christine losing her father, and suddenly feeling the urge to grow up. She gets adopted by Madame Giry and her bouncy bunny Meg. They move into the Paris Opera House. Erik stays busy with his hobbies, gets cabin fever, and sometimes socializes with Opera House staff. He is funny, especially when he looks around his messy bachelor pad and retorts, I shall fire that lazy maid.
Finally done with the book. I applaud the authoress for being one of the few phanic writers to create a sellable and tellable story of the Phantom's life. The book had some grammar errors. For example, a word was missing where it was obviously needed. The authoress sometimes explained the characters' feelings in moderation, and at other times, too much. I enjoyed that the characters seemed REAL. I could imagine Raoul's and Phillipe's brotherly fights. I could picture Erik and Christine making out at the Masquerade Ball. I could picture Erik taking a swim in the lake. I enjoyed that the writer creatively combined some old story parts with new ones. For instance, the Phantom liked to sunbathe on the Opera House roof. It was a great book, and I am waiting for the sequel.

Chanson de l'Ange Book 1 The Bleeding Rose An Epic Retelling of Phantom of the Opera Paisley Swan Stewart Books Reviews
Finished this book last night and all I can say is...BRILLIANT! I LOVED every single minute of it! I'm a Phanatic and love anything and everything Phantom of the Opera, but I am very protective of the story. I'm very skeptical when it comes to reading/watching others own imaginative extended versions of the Phantom. I'm always worried that they might ruin the beauty and uniqueness of the story, as well as the characters we've all come to know and love. I decided to give Chanson de l'Ange a chance though after reading the synopsis and other reviews. Well, if you're a phanatic like I am and have the same worries as I do...you have absolutely nothing to fear with Chanson de l'Ange. The story is absolutely magnificent. It stays completely true to the greatest love story in the world and our favorite fictional characters, while giving us so much more. Paisley Swan Stewart re-creates the story in a way that only a true phantom phan can. She brings the kind of life and love into the story that no other author before her has. I've always wanted the love of Erik and Christine to be expressed more and deeper with passion and heart and she gives us just that. I've always wanted to experience an extensiveness to their relationship and to be able to lose myself in their love for each other. She gives us what we've been wanting since we first fell in love with the story - a backstage pass. We get ERIK and CHRISTINE....first and foremost. In every other story their time together has always been limited, but Stewart gives us scene after scene with exploration of every aspect of their love. I cannot even put into words how wonderful it was to have read this book. To have the extensive story of POTO I've always wanted placed right in front of me....in black and white. Paisley Swan Stewart, a phantom phan herself, knew exactly what we wanted...and she gave it to us. Not only can't I wait for book 2, but I'm just as much looking forward to reading book 1 all over again. Chanson de l'Ange is by far one of, if not the, BEST Phantom book out today. I LOVE it!
This is a thoroughly enjoyable novel, a best in class. As a Phan stemming from seeing the Vegas production of Phantom with its beauty, music, splendor, and lovely story told through music, I was immediately drawn to the movie with Gerard and Emmy. The sound track, as well the the original Lon Chaney movie and Leroux's book captivated me.
When this novel was recommend to me, I took a look on line and was intrigued. Upon reading it, I have to say that it surpassed all of my expectations. What I was concerned would happen, and what I think would be so easy to do, is the result of a sappy Phantom love story fulfilling all those Erik fantasies with him as the perfect being instead of the conflicted man he was meant to be; but Chanson does not disappoint. Likewise, we see Christine as a complex and feeling girl placed in a difficult scenario. Themes of love and redemption are redolent, but never bypass the pain of existence.
My thanks to Ms. Stewart for giving Erik a reality that is more reminiscent of his original character, while indulging from time to time in that side we readers find sensual in him. Ultimately, we want to save him. The storyline is compelling, an intimate view into the lives of the characters we've grown to know so well. Chanson de L'Ange does honor to the Phantom story.
You will not be disappointed! You will be captivated from page one! I read the book in 2 days!! I didn't want to put it down. I am actually starting to read it a 2nd time while waiting for the next book to come out. I just love the detail of the start of Christine and Erik's relationship when she first came to the Opera House. Erik's love for this little girl is just amazing! Even the start of Christine and Raoul's relationship when they first met on the beach is just excellent!! As the story unfolds and Christine is torn between Raoul and Erik; prepare for some late night reading; it will be even harder to put the book down! POTO phans you will not be disappointed!!! If you are a follower of the POTO you will enjoy Paisley Swan Stewart's book series. To Paisley I would like to say Thank You so much for an absolutely AMAZING!! and WONDERFUL!! book series that I know I will read and re-read over and over again; and will recommend to friends; relatives; acquaintances; and book lovers alike )
